Deep Dive Live: The Four Seasons

Interlochen Public Radio's classical music morning host Christy L'Esperance weaves together live music, poetry and art to lead us deep into the life of Antonio Vivaldi during the time he composes his famous piece for string orchestra.

This 50-minute interactive piece features arranged excerpts from The Four Seasons played by a live string quartet featuring Interlochen Arts Academy faculty. In between the pieces listeners are treated to historical context and fun facts that bring the music to life for a contemporary audience.

"The contributing poets from Michigan Writers board (Anne-Marie Oomen, Teresa Scollon, Jennifer Yeatts, and Robb Astor) were eager to collaborate with Interlochen on this interdisciplinary and intergenerational project. The writers enjoyed responding to not only Vivaldi's original Four Seasons text but also to each others' poems as they emerged. From these works a braided cycle of poems was edited together by board president Steve Brown. The final text dramatically evokes the character of Michigan's seasons and people. Michigan Writers is grateful that many young musicians, writers, and performers will give voice to their unique work." - Steve Brown, President of Michigan Writers
