Not only does Ms. Penny craft an outstanding story, packed with intrigue and adventure, she also touches the whole range of human emotions. She knows our basic instincts, desires, and wants. As an award-winning and best-selling author, her novels transcend the mystery genre at which she excels. Her writing career spans twenty years.
Louise Penny is recognized as one of the finest novelists in Canada, her homeland, the United States, England, and Europe. Led by the charming and wise Armand Gamache, Chief Inspector for the Quebec police force, Ms.Penny creates the very special village of Three Pines, with an engaging community of characters. This talk, complete with power point slides, will discuss the life of the author, her range of novels, and a closer look at some of her works.
About Robert VanDellen Bob Van Dellen earned his Ph.D. in English Literature from Indiana University and began his career as a professor at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana.
Bob taught graduate and undergraduate courses, was president of a consulting company, and served as the founding executive director of a Community Foundation. He returned to academia and concluded his career as president of a college in Michigan. He authored over ten feature-length scripts for videos, which included four with Curt Gowdy of American Sportsman fame and one with the famous Roy Rogers. He published several essays and conducted numerous seminars and workshops.
Since 2016, he has presented over twenty-five Talks on Literature. These are now being converted into a multi-series collection of essays, titled Reflections on Literature: Exploring Meanings and Messages. Volume I, The Modern Novel from the Roaring Twenties to the Mythic West released in July, 2023.

The purpose of the East Bay Corners Farmers Market is to provide fresh, locally grown produce and goods to the public, educate the public on the importance of farming and best practices for food production, promote local agriculturally based business development, forge partnerships with local farmers and community partners, create a community gathering space at the Township Hall, and create an agribusiness incubator with green-collar professional development opportunities. What is the role of sound and what does it mean to listen? Hard of hearing filmmaker Alison O’Daniel uses a series of tuba thefts in Los Angeles high schools as a jumping-off point to explore these questions. Through several d/Deaf people telling stories in a unique game of telephone, the central mystery of "The Tuba Thieves" isn’t about theft of instruments; it’s about the nature of sound itself.
