Join the Fibershed at Grow Benzie to repurpose denim legs into fun and functional lined baskets. Keep them simple or embellish them for extra pizazz! Lining is removable so you can make multiple linings and switch them out for any occasion or location. All are welcome. Basic sewing machine skills helpful. Come out to help plant native plugs at GTRLC’s Mitchell Creek Meadows Nature Preserve! Volunteers will learn about and take an active part in the Conservancy’s ongoing habitat restoration project by assisting with planting plugs grown in our very own greenhouse.
The Basics:
GTRLC will supply tools and water. We will teach you everything you need to know about how to properly handle and plant plugs in the ground. No prior experience is necessary! This is a moderately light, family-friendly activity, though volunteers should be prepared for digging and kneeling. Bathrooms and drinking water are both available on site.

Connect with the natural world on paper! During this 3-part series, you will slow down and nurture your connection with the outdoors. Each week will focus on a different theme including; how to start your nature journal, sketching observations, mapping and storytelling. Afterwards, you will leave with the tools to confidently continue your nature journaling experience!
This second session’s theme is sketching nature. Participants can sign up for a single class or the whole series!

Every Wednesday, join us for relaxed acoustic play at the Old Art Building. Share techniques, talents and good vibes. We play pop, blues, rock, jazz, bluegrass ... All levels of ability are welcome. Knowledge of basic chords is helpful. And of course, you are more than welcome to just hang out and listen. Jam session is hosted by Jim Redmond. Jim supplies lyrics and chords on large screen video so everybody can easily join and jam along.
Occasionally lessons are thrown in—Jim’s commentary about the history of a song and some music theory. Shared musical knowledge and songs by attendees add to the fun. Every session begins with “The Carp River Blues” and ends with “Sportin’ Life Blues”.

Join us to listen to nature's night music on a hike in the dark featuring Good Hart Artist Residency Composer-in-Residence Susan Mayo, guided by Little Traverse Conservancy staff. Participants will learn how to hear the soundscapes of the night, then join Mayo to hear her perform an original soundscape composition in the Waterfront Event Center. The event is free but you must register in advance at landtrust.org. Space is limited.
