May 15 Wednesday
Every Wednesday, join us for relaxed acoustic play at the Old Art Building. Share techniques, talents and good vibes. We play pop, blues, rock, jazz, bluegrass ... All levels of ability are welcome. Knowledge of basic chords is helpful. And of course, you are more than welcome to just hang out and listen. Jam session is hosted by Jim Redmond. Jim supplies lyrics and chords on large screen video so everybody can easily join and jam along.
Occasionally lessons are thrown in—Jim’s commentary about the history of a song and some music theory. Shared musical knowledge and songs by attendees add to the fun. Every session begins with “The Carp River Blues” and ends with “Sportin’ Life Blues”.
For questions or concerns, contact Jim Redmond directly at 720-965-0231

Throughout this spring and summer, East Bay Township residents and stakeholders will have the opportunity to help develop a vision for the U.S. 31 corridor in East Bay Township, branded as the East Bay Beach District.
The East Bay Beach District has long been identified as a priority district in the Township, in need of an actionable framework for placemaking, safety improvements, and public infrastructure investment. The recently adopted East Bay Township Master Plan identifies a series of priorities for this corridor, and emphasizes future improvements that are rooted in resiliency and green infrastructure best practices, facilitate improved safe connections to corridor destinations, the Grand Traverse Bay waterfront, and surrounding multimodal transportation routes, and promote expanded outdoor dining opportunities and public streetscaping.
A public design charrette will be held the week of May 13. Public open houses will be held on May 14 and May 16 from 4-6 PM at Harbor Brook Hall. A complete charrette schedule can be found here.
The purpose of the East Bay Corners Farmers Market is to provide fresh, locally grown produce and goods to the public, educate the public on the importance of farming and best practices for food production, promote local agriculturally based business development, forge partnerships with local farmers and community partners, create a community gathering space at the Township Hall, and create an agribusiness incubator with green-collar professional development opportunities. All are welcome!
The Ottaway, A River Reconnected, is a celebration of the soon-t-be-complete Boardman River Restoration Initiative, and it's capstone project, FishPass. With FishPass, the Great Lakes could soon see a resurgence of the acred native fishes, like lake sturgeon, thanks to a fully automated selective fish passage system, which will allow desirable fish species to move freely throughout pristine habitat while blocking passage of invasive species such as parasitic sea lampreys.
Join the filmmaker, Dan Bertalan, and the new Executive Secretary of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, Marc Gaden, who will set the stage for the film and story of the Boardman/Ottoway River Restoration.
Registration is required for this free event.
Join Traverse City's AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Committee for a free event with the goal to build greater understanding and empathy for people of different cultural backgrounds through positive engagement and welcoming learning events.

Then, enjoy a reading from Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant by Michigan-born author Curtis Chin. Among many accolades, his book is included on the Most Anticipated LGBT+ Books of Fall 2023. The evening will wrap up with a Q+A with Curtis Chin, and a book signing and sale.
