All are welcome, Art Lovers and Artists alike, to join us for this free one time event. Artist, Molly Carpenter will be joining us from New Jersey to present a live demo and discussion about her artwork and technique.
Molly is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work encompasses clay relief sculpture, mosaic, painting and gold leaf. She will delve into how she creates and re-creates her reliefs and incorporates fantastical motifs surrounding nature and a bit of magic.
Her solo exhibit, "Unwritten Stories" will be on view during the demo.
Connect with leaders from over 50 regional organizations, hear initiatives about protecting our environment, explore outdoor education and recreation ideas, kid’s activities, live music, workshops, crafts, food and storytelling.

Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his son Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. Performed by OTP Young Company musical theatre students.

The Oliver Art Center kicks off its 2024 Summer Music Series with a much anticipated performance by the Viridian Strings in the Center's Beck Gallery. The performance, Musical Monikers, will feature string quartets by Dvorak, Mozart and Prokofiev. Founded in 2018, Viridian Strings was established with a passion for chamber music performed against the beautiful backdrop of Northern Michigan. Comprised of alums from renowned musical institutions who gather and perform throughout the region during the summer, Viridian Strings are known for providing high quality chamber music experiences.

Join GDC staff and chocolate artist Anne Boulley to make some stunning geodes filled with luscious caramel, toffee and sugar crystals. Emerald green, blue lapis, red ruby and more colors to choose from with an edible gold to gild the edges. You will learn how to decorate using colored cocoa butter, toffee "crystals" and how to arrange them so they look more realistic. We'll package them up for gift giving!
