Watercolor Journaling, Part I

Watercolor Journaling, Part I
Join artist Alyssa Smith for a unique workshop geared towards developing the art of seeing everyday beauty around you. You’ll leave with basic sketching and watercoloring skills as well as your first entry in a watercolor journal.
Last year she started a collection of small works called “A hundred ways to kiss the ground.” This class is meant to be a continuation of this idea and how we are able to find different ways to appreciate the world around us. She has been keeping a visual journal for years and invites you on the journey of finding a small pocket of time in the day to keep track of your visual memories.
The first half hour will be spent learning the basics of drawing and how to get a quick sketch down on paper. The next hour will be focused on basic watercolor skills. During the rest of the class, she’ll be sharing a short reading on the art of seeing as well as a meditation to get everyone started on their first watercolor journal entry.
Each participant is invited to bring a small token from their home or the outdoors (a flower, piece of fabric, leaf, color, small object…) for this exercise.
This is a 1-day Adult class.
