Lumbering, Homesteaders, and Passenger Pigeons

Lumbering, Homesteaders, and Passenger Pigeons

The Little Traverse Historical Society proudly commemorates the 50th anniversary of its museum's opening by revisiting the monthly history programs originally presented in 1974. These programs, organized by the then-president Merton Carter and featuring an array of guest speakers, provided a captivating window into local history. To honor this milestone, the Society is thrilled to announce the reprisal of these iconic events.

Kicking off this nostalgic journey, the first program is slated for Thursday, January 18th at 7 PM, via Zoom. The first session will cover Lumbering, Homesteaders, and Passenger Pigeons.

Interested individuals are cordially invited to participate by registering through the museum's website at petoskeymuseum.org. Registration is free and open to all.

Guiding these programs is the current Executive Director, Jane Garver, who will draw upon Merton Carter's program notes and archived newspaper articles to recreate the essence of the original presentations.
