Join GTRLC for a workday at the new Birch Point Nature Preserve! Staff and volunteers will be removing several woody invasive species to improve and maintain the incredible habitats and access to nature this property provides.
GTRLC will supply gloves and tools. We will teach you everything you need to know about tool use, safety, and the importance of invasive species management on this property. No prior experience necessary! This will be a moderately strenuous event, with participants hiking up to 1 mile and using hand tools to remove invasive plants. There is no access to restrooms or drinking water at this site.
Dress for the weather! Always check the forecast in advance
Sturdy, close toed shoes that can handle some mud
Long pants are strongly recommended
Bring a re-usable water bottle and some snacks
Sunscreen and bug spray for your safety and comfort
Directions: Please meet us at the main trailhead for Birch Point Nature Preserve. This one can be a bit tricky to find, please see this map link that shows our specific meeting location! (Once you turn off of Platte Rd, stay right through several intersections until you see the parking area along the two-track.
