Festival Choir & Orchestra present Gabriel Faure's "Requiem"

St. Andrews Presbyterian Church announces The Festival Choir and Orchestra featuring forty voices and an orchestra of fifteen musicians will perform Gabriel Faure’s “Requiem” in D Minor Op. 48 Sunday, October 13, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. Two additional pieces of Faure’s compositions will also be performed, ‘Piece for Oboe and Harp’ and ‘Cantique de Jean Racine Op. 11’. A suggested free will donation of $10 supports the Arts on the Hill’s mission. A reception follows the performance.

Faure’s ‘Requiem was composed between 1887 - 1890. It is unusually gentle for a requiem mass. Faure described it as ‘a lullaby of death’, inspired by the death of his parents.

Please, put this special concert on your planning calendars now and plan to celebrate, experience, be inspired and enjoy this wonderful music performed by local songsters and instrumentalists led by Michael D. Beery, Music Director at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
