Natalie Helm is principal cellist at the Sarasota Orchestra and founder of Upward Notes, an organization that takes music outside the concert hall and to the community. She is also a Valade Instructor of Cello at Interlochen Arts Camp.
Helm visited IPR’s Studio A to perform three movements from Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello Suite no. 1.
She spoke about her goals as a teacher (etudes are required!) and about performances that she and members of Upward Notes have taken into jails, drug rehab facilities and animal shelters.

Michael Van Wagenen engineered this edition of Studio A with support from Michael Culler. Monica Yost provided production assistance.
