This weekend, Song of the Lakes will join forces with the Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Tom Riccobono.
This concert will feature six orchestrated versions of Song of the Lakes songs, including three new arrangements by northern Michigan composer Tony Manfredonia.

"It's just amazing to play our songs with these new orchestral arrangements, with their rich layers bringing them to full fruition,” said Song of the Lakes founding member Ingemar Johansson. “The concert will highlight an intriguing merger between folk and classical music, and Tom Riccobono is leading a fabulous team of talented orchestral players. It’s a thrill to perform with them, together, on our home turf."
"It's a meeting of the minds," Riccobono said of the collaboration. "It's a fusion of folk music and rock influences and classical music."
According to Riccobono, the members of Song of the Lakes said it's "a big ego boost" to perform with a 60-member symphony orchestra. He himself says, "It's really terrific."
The concert is Sunday, August 22 at 7 p.m. at the Benzie Central High School Auditorium. Click here for more information.
