Interlochen Arts Academy violin student Matlida Goldie comes to the school as a senior, and has already had quite a year! She's a finalist in this year's Concerto Competition.
While she loved her old high school, Matilda's particularly excited to hang out with her fellow artists at Interlochen. Now, she says, she and her friends can joyfully compare everything from their favorite composers to the size of their calluses!
Before becoming a classical violinist, Matilda spent many years playing folk music in Newfoundland (she hails from Toronto).
Matilda performs the second movement of the Aram Khachaturian Violin Concerto in IPR's Studio A. She's joined by collaborative pianist Soojin Kang.
Matilda's violin instructor is Tina Chu. Stefan Wiebe engineered this broadcast.
