An investigation continues in Missaukee County after Friday shootings that left six people dead and a teenage girl injured.
Michigan State Police said troopers were sent to home on South LaChance Road in Lake Township at about 11:40 Friday morning, following reports someone had been shot.
There, they found three people dead — a 45-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy.
A 13-year-old girl at the scene had been critically injured. On Saturday, police said she had been upgraded to stable condition.
Police found a 53-year-old man dead at a second scene.
Authorities identified a suspect as 39-year-old Chad Hickman. After a short search Friday, he and a 29-year-old woman were found dead in a wooded area near Whitlock Lake, in Caldwell Township.
As of Saturday, police had not named any of the victims.
Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she was briefed on the incident.
"The Michigan State Police are on the ground investigating, and I'll continue monitoring the situation as more information becomes available," she said in a statement posted to social media. "My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the Missaukee community."
A statement from Michigan State Police said investigators worked all night processing the various crime scenes.
