An Evening with Scott Simon, host of NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday

Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. — Join IPR's Ed Ronco for an evening with Scott Simon at Milliken Auditorium in Traverse City

Enjoy an evening of storytelling, humor, and heartfelt conversation with acclaimed author and NPR host Scott Simon. Join Interlochen Public Radio on September 27 at 6:30 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium as Simon discusses his new book, Ulysses S. Cat and Other Animals I Have Known, published by W. W. Norton & Company. IPR News Director Ed Ronco will join him on stage for the conversation.

In his newest book, Simon reflects on the remarkable relationships between people and the animals who share their lives. Through stories filled with warmth, humor, and insight, he explores the everyday moments that reveal the deep bonds between humans and pets, relationships that often feel more like family than ownership. From the dog that helped guide his first steps to the companions who shaped his life, Simon offers a touching celebration of love, loyalty, and connection across species.

Simon is the longtime host of NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday, which The Washington Post praised as "the most literate, witty, moving, and just plain interesting news show on any dial." He has received every major award in broadcasting, including a Peabody Award for his weekly radio essays. He is also the author of numerous books, including the New York Times bestselling memoir Unforgettable: A Son, a Mother, and the Lessons of a Lifetime.
