After 22 years as host of "Exploring Music," host Bill McGlaughlin has stepped down.
In a statement emailed to stations, McGlaughlin wrote, "'Exploring Music' gave me a wonderful chance to do what I love best —explore some of the greatest accomplishments of humanity in some depth."
McGlaughlin and engineer Bill Siegmund recorded their final episodes of "Exploring Music" in December 2025.
The final episodes with McLaughlin as host will air the week of August 17, 2026 with the theme "Curse of the Ninth! Ninth Symphonies."
Peter van de Graaff will succeed McLaughlin as host of "Exploring Music," with his first week of programs beginning August 24, 2026.
"Exploring Music" airs weeknights at 7 p.m. on Classical IPR. The program is produced by WFMT and distributed by the WFMT Radio Network.
