How the astonishing haul of food that would otherwise go to waste can help your neighbors

This time of year, there's a lot of gleaning happening in our region. That's when people are invited onto farms to take produce that would otherwise go to waste. And there's a chance to do that this weekend.

IPR spoke with Taylor Moore, director of Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan.

There's a gleaning harvest happening Saturday afternoon at a private orchard on the Old Mission Peninsula. Goodwill has a mailing list for people who are interested in helping with the work.
