Pianist Dorothy Vogel visited Classical IPR studios on Monday ahead of her upcoming appearance with the Traverse City Philharmonic.
On Sunday, March 16, Vogel performs Manuel de Falla's "Nights in the Gardens of Spain" with TC Phil conductor Kevin Rhodes in an all-Spanish masterworks program.
She is one of three soloists of "Three Amigos Visit Spain" along with guitarist Matthew Cochran and TC Phil principal bassist Gary Gatzke, Jr.
Currently serving as the principal pianist for the TC Phil, Vogel is also a faculty member at Northwestern Michigan College and active as a collaborative pianist with area chamber ensembles.
"Three Amigos Visit Spain" takes places at Interlochen's Corson Auditorium on Sunday, March 16 at 3 p.m. The program includes "Carmen Fantasy" by Frank Proto, "Concierto de Aranjuez" by Joaquin Rodrigo and ends with a second piece by Manuel de Falla, the composer's "Ritual Fire Dance."
