Job Description

The Classical Music Host and Digital Content Producer will play a pivotal role in curating exceptional musical experiences and shaping digital content for Interlochen Public Radio’s classical music programming. As a passionate advocate for classical music, you'll guide listeners through daily broadcasts while leveraging digital platforms to enhance engagement and reach. With a keen eye for detail and creativity, you'll craft compelling content that resonates with classical music enthusiasts across various online channels.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Program and host daily classical music broadcast on air, curating captivating playlists, providing insightful commentary, and engaging listeners with informative and entertaining content that celebrates the richness and diversity of classical music
  • Oversee and manage IPR's digital assets, including website content, social media platforms, mobile app, email newsletters and digital archives, ensuring consistency, quality, and relevance across all digital channels
  • Conduct engaging interviews with guest artists, showcasing their insights, experiences, and contributions to the world of classical music
  • Solicit and produce online/digital content that effectively promotes the Classical IPR brand and identity, creating engaging articles, videos, newsletters, and social media posts that showcase the station's mission, programming, and unique offerings
  • Create and maintain an engaging online presence for the station and its content by regularly updating website content, managing social media platforms, and interacting with the audience to cultivate a vibrant and interactive digital community centered around classical music appreciation and exploration
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that celebrates and values individual differences within the Interlochen community and the IPR audience

Experience and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of classical music, evidenced by a strong personal interest, active involvement in the classical music community, or relevant experience in a similar role required
  • Knowledge of social media management tools such as Meta Business Suite or Sprout Social, leveraging these tools to schedule posts, analyze engagement metrics, and optimize content strategy across various social media platforms
  • Experience utilizing email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact to create and distribute email campaigns, manage subscriber lists, and analyze campaign performance metrics
  • Experience using music scheduling software such as MusicMaster to curate and manage playlists, schedule programming, and maintain accurate music libraries, optimizing the on-air listening experience and ensuring compliance with licensing regulations
  • Skilled in digital audio workstation (DAW) software such as Adobe Audition or Pro Tools, proficiently utilizing these tools to edit, mix, and produce high-quality audio content
  • Experience with both the Google Suite and Adobe Suite or experience with similar tools
  • Proficient in AP Style or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new style guides, ensuring consistency and adherence to editorial standards in written communications, press releases, and promotional materials for IPR
  • Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, evidenced by clear and concise articulation of ideas, effective storytelling abilities, and engaging interactions
  • Possess flexibility, agility, and a strong ability to learn, adapting quickly to changing circumstances, embracing new challenges, and acquiring new skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, taking initiative and effectively managing tasks and projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, effectively prioritizing responsibilities, and maintaining attention to detail amidst competing demands, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of projects
  • Ability to follow and execute specific verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to promote and maintain positive interaction with all internal and external stakeholders
