On Sunday, July 9, Interlochen Center for the Arts will celebrate the life and legacy of the institution's sixth president, Edward J. Downing.
Downing served Interlochen in many capacities from 1969 to 2003: Camp and Academy faculty, director of National Music Camp (later Interlochen Arts Camp), vice president for education and president of Interlochen Center for the Arts.
Downing died in February of this year (2023) at the age of 87.
