Death, dying and loss are not experiences most people want to talk about, but which we all will encounter.

Perhaps there are ways to make dealing with these end-of-life journeys easier. Find out how a group of Benzie County women are using music to ease people across the threshold of death.

Listen to the story through the audio player above. It comes from IPR's Story School, a 10-week program led by independent producer Juliet Hinley. Eight storytelling enthusiasts from around Northern Michigan learned how to pitch stories, record interviews, work with audio editing equipment and produce an edited, narrated final story. The finished pieces aired in a special presentation on Interlochen Public Radio. Listen to the whole program here.
