The door to Wild Pages on Front Street in Traverse City.

Amber Edmondson and Raja Howe have slowly grown their handbound journal making business into Wild Pages, Traverse City’s only radical bookstore.

Through their passion for the written word and especially poetry, they encourage visitors to engage with their own creative voices through writing. In the spirit of community support, Wild Pages also offers a small food pantry.

Listen to the story through the audio player above. It comes from IPR's Story School, a 10-week program led by independent producer Juliet Hinley. Eight storytelling enthusiasts from around Northern Michigan learned how to pitch stories, record interviews, work with audio editing equipment and produce an edited, narrated final story.

The finished pieces aired in a special presentation on Interlochen Public Radio. Listen to the whole program here.
