Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Interlochen residency includes two live IPR broadcasts

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra's residency is returning to Interlochen Arts Camp this summer.

The DSO will perform a concert in Kresge Auditorium on July 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET as part of the 2022 Interlochen Arts Festival.

The DSO's program features Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Symphonic Variations on an African Air, Op. 63.

The DSO's July 22 performance will be broadcast live on Classical IPR.

The orchestra's residency at Interlochen includes master classes and side-by-side rehearsals with students from a variety of ensembles.

The World Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform alongside selected DSO members on Sunday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m.

The WYSO program features the Symphony No. 2 in E minor by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Both the Friday DSO performance and the Sunday WYSO performance will be conducted by Tito Muñoz.

Detroit Symphony Orchestra music director Jader Bignamini was originally scheduled to conduct the July 22 and 24 performances at Interlochen. Bignamini has tested positive for COVID-19, and now both performances will be conducted by Tito Muñoz.
