The stellar tango group QuinTango visits IPR's Studio A to chat and make music, ahead of their June 30 concert in Glen Arbor.

The chamber tango quintet (plus one!) QuinTango is making the rounds of Northwest Lower Michigan as part of the IPR Live Summer Concert Series.

Their final local appearance is at 5:00 p.m. on June 30 in Glen Arbor, as part fo the Manitou Music Festival. The free concert will be held at the Glen Lake Community School Auditorium.

QuinTango came to Studio A to share some music and chat with IPR's Kate Botello. What you'll hear is only part of a much longer, fascinating conversation. You'll hear more of our talk with Quintango in the next season of Classical Sprouts, our podcast for kids, and as part of "Valentine's Week" in next season's Kids Commute.

QuinTango's members are: Ali Cook (bass), Susanna Mendlow (cello), Freya Creech (violin), Joan Singer (founder/violin), Julie Huang Tucker (piano) - and their permanent "plus one" is Emmanuel Trifilio (bandoneon).

QuinTango performed the following works:

"Aspiration" by bassist Ali Cook
"El Eco de tu Amor" by bandoneonist Emmanuel Trifilio
"La Cumparsita" by Gerardo Matos Rodriguez
