<p><a href="mailto:stephanlj@interlochen.org"><em>By Linda Stephan</em></a></p> <p>Vandalism at a state fish hatchery in Alanson will shutter indefinitely a popular feature open to the public since 2002.</p> <p>It looks like rocks were thrown and glass broken in the Oden State Fish Hatchery's stream viewing chamber. The chamber is underground and allows people to watch wildlife in the water through a three-inch thick pane of glass.</p> <p>Christine Steensma, a park interpreter, says the stream will have to be re-routed and a fix will be expensive.</p> <p><strong> </strong>"You have to replace the whole thing, so it can be kind of extensive," she says. "There's the running river. There's some build up of some sediment that's behind there, so really we don't know how much it's going to cost."</p> <p>Steensma says the rest of the Oden Fish Hatchery remains open.</p> <p>The Michigan State Police are investigating.</p>
