Inside A Tart Cherry Revival: 'Somebody Needs To Do This!'

<p><span>Tart cherries come in lots of varieties around the world, with many flavor profiles. But in northern Michigan, most of us have tasted little of that diversity.</span></p> <p><span>It's not just about flavor. An MSU researcher has been traveling eastern Europe and Russia to learn more about tart cherry varieties and how different types of trees could help stave off weather disasters like the one we witnessed in 2012.</span></p> <p>NPR's Dan Charles traveled to Michigan recently.
