An art teacher from Cadillac has just sent his art to Ripley's Museum. Scott Buckmaster made a set of three large portraits - or triptych - of him and his friends out of cards.
He says he usually paints and draws cars.
But one day while shuffling a deck of cards, he noticed that it looked like a gray scale. "There's a packing card that's white. And then as you shuffle through it, the ace has a little bit more ink. The two has more. Three has more. The four has even more." Buckmaster continues, "It just gets darker and darker progressively."
So he decided to try to work with playing cards instead. The seven and a half foot set is called "Jokers."
Buckmaster is one of 18 artists' at this year's Artprize whose work was purchased by Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum.
