This weekend, the Dennos Museum in Traverse City is opening an exhibit of the work of artist Jim Hay. Hay lived in Traverse City as a teenager and graduated from Northwestern Michigan College in 1963.
He's worked in every medium. But today, he makes fabric wall hangings almost exclusively.
IPR's Brad Aspey talked to Hay from his home in Japan and found out that using fabric as an artistic medium came out of a practical need. Play the audio above to hear our story.
