Victim, Shooter Identified

<p><em><a href="mailto:payettec@interlochen.org">By Peter Payette</a></em></p> <p>A section of Traverse City's Old Town neighborhood was locked down briefly yesterday following a murder suicide in a parking lot near 8th and Union Streets.</p> <p>Witnesses say two men began arguing behind Brady's Bar. One shot the other with a pistol and then shot himself.</p> <p>Shots were heard in nearby businesses.</p> <p>"I was in here...shots going on outside, so we ran outside and the guys were already dead laying there. It happened pretty quick," says Marv Hagelberg. He was working at Maxbauers Specialty Meat Market.</p> <p>The shooter has been identified as 44-year-old William Welch. The Victim, 49-year-old Michael Teter, owned Teter Orthotics & Prosthetics in Traverse City.</p> <p>The Traverse City Record Eagle is reporting that Teter had been involved in a relationship with Welch's wife. </p>
