It's the invasive Michigan's wildlife chief calls, a four-footed Asian carp, a wild pig or Russian Boar.
Some hunters love them for sport. They're found on about 60 private hunting ranches in the state. But those ranches may be out of the pig business by next summer.
The head of the state Department of Natural Resources and Environment has signed an order to ban feral pigs as an "invasive species" in Michigan. That's only if the legislature doesn't create regulations for pig hunts by next summer.
Some say the nail is on the coffin for Michigan pig hunts either way.
IPR's Peter Payette has been following this story. He talks with All Things Considered Host Linda Stephan. Play the audio above to listen.
