Fabulous Horndogs

By Tom Kramer

The Fabulous Horndogs will be enjoying some home field advantage tonight at the National Cherry Festival.

The band is headlining on the festival's main concert stage at the open space in Traverse City.

It's not the first time the band has performed at the festival, in fact, a CD featuring their performance at last year's festival has just been released.

The six-member funk-slash R & B band has been a staple in Northern Michigan for more than a decade.

It's newest member, bassist Jack Conners, has been with the Horndogs since 2007.

He's also chief engineer here at Interlochen Public Radio.

(In exchange for sitting down with me for an interview, I promised not to break anything for at least a week.)

At any rate, Conners says the band has its roots in another legendary Northern Michigan funk band.
