This week on Kids Commute, we're celebrating an exciting team-up!
The Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, with their conductor Leslie B. Dunner, head off to New York to perform with (and conduct!) the New York Philharmonic at David Geffen Hall.
The Interlochen performance - an original multidisciplinary work (which means it's a mixed bag of dance, music, theatre and poetry) called "Mukti" - will run on March 3.
Fourteen members of the New York Philharmonic went to Interlochen Arts Academy, and the current members of our Orchestra will get to play right next to them on stage! This is a huge deal for our young musicians.
In honor of this awesome team-up, we're hearing performances this week by five members of the New York Philharmonic who went to Interlochen, either as campers or full-time students.
We'll have a New York City-themed Quizlet coming your way, too!
Tune in to Kids Commute Monday through Friday at 7:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. or listen any time at the links below.
Production help for Kids Commute came from Delia Zaleski and Joseph Levesque. Our Kids Commute producer is Emily Duncan Wilson; Amanda Sewell is our Music Director.
