This week: Parents struggle to find good, affordable childcare for their little ones, and we hear about a holiday variety show in Leland.

This week, Interlochen Public Radio presented a special series called "A Crisis of Care," examining northern Michigan's childcare crisis through the eyes of parents, providers and employers.

In this week's episode, we hear about the struggles faced by a family in Manistee, searching for childcare that's accessible, affordable and aligns with the things they want their kids to learn.

We'll also hear about a variety show in Leland — and how it's Grammy-winning co-creator is trying to hearken back to those old holiday TV shows, with a modern spin.

Ed Ronco is IPR's news director.
Max Copeland is the local weekday host of All Things Considered on Interlochen Public Radio and the producer of The Up North Lowdown, IPR’s weekly news podcast.
