Up North Lowdown, Ep. 35: To fish or not to fish?

Should there be more commercial fishing on Lake Michigan? A bill in Lansing has reignited the debate in some Up North communities.

Up North Lowdown - Interlochen Public Radio, NPR Network

Commercial fishers say that the bill throws a lifeline to an industry that badly needs it. Many recreational fishers worry it will cut into their catch — and their business.

We'll also hear from a professor at Grand Valley State University who, along with her students, put together a documentary about people working for climate solutions in Michigan.

And the Boardman Review is celebrating its 25th edition this weekend. IPR's Dan Wanschura talks with arts and culture commentator Joe Beyer about how the publication has built up not just readership, but also community.
