Meet the members of "Quintetto con Fuoco" or, the quintet that plays "with fire" (or just a lot of energy and passion) came to IPR's Studio A.
How did they come up with the name for their chamber group?
Earlier in the summer as a quintet, they had played music by Mexican composer Arturo Márquez, who used the marking con fuoco many times in the piece.
Throughout the summer they've gotten close as an ensemble: having fun in rehearsals, playing music they like and hearing all of the talented musicians around them.

When the group visited Studio A, they performed a movement from Paul Hindemith's Wind Quintet.
Bassoonist Madeline Zhang said her favorite part of the piece is the running eighth notes that each instrument plays and the creates a constant underlying pulse.
And as for their favorite piece they've played this summer with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra?
Connor Powers, the quintet's horn player, especially liked when WYSO performed Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 - because of the amazing horn part in the fourth movement, of course.
