Supreme Court: Inman recall petition OK despite missing word

The Michigan Supreme Court says a recall campaign against state Representative Larry Inman can continue, despite a typographical error on the circulated petitions.

The Recall Inman Committee collected more than 14,000 signatures, but the Bureau of State Canvassers threw them out after it discovered a typo in the petition language.

The circulated petition left out a word when describing one of the federal charges against Inman.

He's accused of asking for campaign contributions in return for votes on bills.

The Appeals Court agreed with the Bureau of State Canvassers.

But the state Supreme Court said the reasons for the recall are clearly explained in both petitions.

The Traverse City area Republican will face a recall in May if the committee has turned in enough signatures.
