Moler's interest in astronomy started at age 13.
"I got really into it big time," he said, "and joined the Grand Rapids Astronomy Club and put together a telescope and became connected with the planetarium after high school."
He's now 82, and has been on Interlochen Public Radio for five decades.
"You would be surprised how much we've learned in the last 50 years," Moler said. "It's been an amazing ride of astronomical discoveries and interplanetary probes."
Among Moler's favorite interests: studying the solar system and star clusters beyond our galaxy.
"It's absolutely amazing that somebody on a little ball orbiting a star in a galaxy can look out and see all the way back to what's called a cosmic background, microwave radiation, which is the first time the universe actually became transparent," Moler said.
Bob Moler has been looking out from that little ball for most of his life, and sharing what he sees with all of us.
