The 1930 George and Ira Gershwin musical "Girl Crazy" was revamped as "Crazy For You" - a "new" Gershwin musical - in 1992.
Much of the show's music comes from "Girl Crazy" and features other Gershwin standards and a few musical suprises.
Erin Repke, one of the show's directors, feels this lighthearted musical is the perfect way to get people back to the theater for a joyful, toe-tapping evening.
Joined by cast member Sammy McGuire, who plays entrepeneur Bela Zangler, Repke helps set up the show's madcap plot and shares some favorite tunes.
Music included in this chat:
- Shall We Dance
- What Causes That
- Entrance to Nevada (the only piece written exclusively for "Crazy For You"
- The Real American Folk Song
- I Got Rhythm
