Flavored vaping products will be banned in Michigan under emergency rules that were issued by the state Department of Health and Human Services Wednesday.
Brick-and-mortar stores and online retailers have 14 days to remove flavored vaping products from their inventories that are available to the public, accofding to the department.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced two weeks ago plans to ban flavored vaping products. The vaping industry could sue the state in an effort to block the new rules.
“I’m proud that Michigan has been a national leader in protecting our kids from the harmful effects of vaping,” Whitmer outlined in a statement. “For too long, companies have gotten our kids hooked on nicotine by marketing candy-flavored vaping products as safe. That ends today. This bold action will protect our kids and our overall public health.”
