In our weekly email newsletter last week, we asked Classical IPR listeners to weigh in on an important question.
How much Christmas music is the right amount of Christmas music this time of year?
See a graph of the responses below.
Classical IPR listeners weighed in:
- 45% want a little Christmas
- 45% want half Christmas
- 9% want all Christmas music during the first half of December
Thanks to everyone who responded!
Equal numbers of listeners said "a bit of Christmas music" and "half Christmas music," and a handful said "all Christmas music." Interestingly, nobody said "no Christmas music at all."
We also got some interesting comments, a few of which we'll share below.

Comments from respondents
Please play more Christmas music!! I have to search other stations around the country.
Christmas comes once a year and there's so much beautiful music to be heard. Why not play it as long as we can?
More obscure Christmas carols and clever arrangements of well-known carols are always welcome, IMO!
Please continue to play Christmas/Holiday music during the 12 Days of Christmas!! It's not over on December 26th :)
Enjoy hearing music from countries in addition to United States
It would be great to recognize through music, not just Christmas, but music of the other annual holidays celebrated by other religions and traditions. [Note from Classical IPR: We agree! We have specials coming this season for the Solstice, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and more. See the complete schedule here.]
