Some sounds of the ribbon cutting event on Thursday in Clinch Park.

Traverse City officials, a few local cycling groups, and TART Trails volunteers celebrated a revamped stretch of the TART Trails system in downtown Traverse City.

The new segment is just east of Clinch Park, where the event took place.

IPR’s Claire Keenan-Kurgan went to the ribbon cutting, and has this audio postcard.

This phase of trail development cost around $1.2 million and was built by contractor Team Elmer's. The money came from a Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) Grant, Traverse City's municipal budget, DDA TIF 97 funds, and TART Trails funds.

Claire joined Interlochen Public Radio in summer 2024. Before arriving at IPR, she interned for WBEZ’s data journalism team in Chicago and for the investigative unit of American Public Media.
