This weekend, moviegoers in Ludington will vote on their favorite of 10 international short films.

So will tens of thousands of people around the world.

The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is one of over 500 theaters participating in the Manhattan Short Film Festival.

The festival is showing at theaters across six continents.

One of the films chosen is the Irish short film Room Taken, in which a man in need of a place to sleep secretly moves into the home of a woman named Victoria who has recently lost her sense of sight.

Other selected films come from countries including Croatia, Ukraine, France and the United States.

Local moviegoers will join worldwide audiences to vote on the best short to win the global festival’s prize.

The festival started yesterday, and runs through Wednesday. Each screening lasts two and half hours, with an intermission, and tickets are $10.

Scheduled screenings:

  • 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28
  • 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1
  • 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2

The full lineup can be found on Manhattan Short's website.
