Megan Olsen, Lindsey Collins and Genevieve Minor are the librarians at West Senior High School in Traverse City.

The library for Traverse City West High school is not just a place to checkout books.

The focus of the high school has been to educate the whole child and not just focus on their academic success. What does the library have to do in its day-to-day functions to have this happen?

Listen to the story through the audio player above. It comes from IPR's Story School, a 10-week program led by independent producer Juliet Hinley. Eight storytelling enthusiasts from around Northern Michigan learned how to pitch stories, record interviews, work with audio editing equipment and produce an edited, narrated final story. The finished pieces aired in a special presentation on Interlochen Public Radio. Listen to the whole program here.
