Brad's Pick

An American Indian pow wow is a community celebration, filled with meaning and rich tradition. How much do you really know about pow wow? Tonight, there's a chance to learn from a great source.

Hank Bailey, a traditional dancer, talks about pow wow tonight as part of a lecture series from Saving Birds Thu Habitat. It's at 7:00 in Omena.

Bailey will dress in full pow wow regalia and dance and talk about the meaning of pow wow.

One big misconception from television and movies: "Usually it will show us stomping around on the ground as we're dancing and that's totally not what we're taught in our dancing," he says. "We're told to walk lightly, or step lightly, on Mother Earth, just as we walk through life."
