When the U.S. invaded Afghanistan in 2001, Special Forces led the way. It was the first time in U.S. history Special Forces had such a role. In his new book, Horse Soldiers, Traverse City author Doug Stanton tells the story of a band of soldiers from Fort Campbell Kentucky who fought alongside Afghans to take Mazar-e Sharif and hold it against the Taliban. Doug and General Geoffrey Lambert, retired Commander of U.S. Army Special Forces, join us this week on Points North.
