When The Crane Wives formed eight years ago, the band featured a straightforward acoustic sound and performed around the Grand Rapids area.Much has changed since 2010 though, as the band has evolved to a more amped-up, electric sound and has gained a national following.
The West-Michigan band made up of Kate Pillsbury, Emilee Petersmark, Ben Zito and Dan Rickabus are slowly working towards their next album. The project doesn't have a release date yet, but according to the band it's going to feature more of a live sound. The group is also making a conscious attempt to be more vulnerable and authentic in its songwriting.
You can hear The Crane Wives perform tonight, in Bellaire. The band also has shows in Lake Ann on July 27, Traverse City on July 28 and in Glen Arbor on July 29.
