The Traverse City Area Public Schools Board will hold a special meeting Thursday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m.

TCAPS Board Member Erica Moon Mohr told IPR the board will discuss a separation agreement with superintendent Ann Cardon.

Moon Mohr didn't comment on the specifics of the agreement or the interim plan for the district, saying those are negotiated in closed-meetings of the board.

“I can’t even wrap my head around it,” Moon Mohr said. “We hired someone with such amazing credentials and 60 days later we’re having this conversation.”

The special meeting is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday at the TCAPS Administration Building in Traverse City. The agenda states the meeting will be held for “Authorization of Mutual Agreement.”

Several school board members, including President Sue Kelly, have allegedly been at odds with Cardon for weeks. Kelly said in an interview with WTCM that several board members disagree with Cardon over school funding.

Kelly did not immediately return a request for comment. IPR will update this story as it develops.
