The 2018-19 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with a broadcast from October 6, 2018, starring Anna Netrebko in the title role of Verdi’s monumental Aida. Netrebko gave her first Met performances as the enslaved Ethiopian princess last fall, alongside Anita Rachvelishvili, who made her Met role debut as Amneris, Aida’s formidable rival. The cast also features Aleksandrs Antonenko as Radamès, the warrior loved by both women, and Quinn Kelsey as Aida’s manipulative father Amonasro, with Dmitry Belosselskiy as the high priest Ramfis and Ryan Speedo Green as the King of Egypt. Nicola Luisotti conducted the Met Orchestra and Chorus. This performance of Aida was seen in cinemas around the world as a part of the Met’s Live in HD series.
