Cristian Măcelaru Conducts Grammy-winning Recording

Cristian Măcelaru conducted the world premiere recording of the Violin Concerto by American trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis.

The recording of the work, which was performed by violinist Nicola Benedetti and the Philadelphia Orchestra, won the Grammy award for “Best Classical Instrumental Solo” on January 26, 2020.

Classical IPR will feature the concerto during the one o'clock hour this Tuesday afternoon. Listeners will hear more about Cristian Măcelaru, the award-winning recording and the conductor's newest role at Interlochen Center for the Arts

In November, Măcelaru was named the inaugural Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of Interlochen's World Youth Symphony Orchestra (WYSO).
