Snyder Delivers State Of The State Thursday 7pm

Governor Rick Snyder will deliver his fourth State of the State address tonight, setting the stage for Snyder’s widely anticipated but still-not-official reelection bid. Administration sources say we should expect to hear a review of the state’s economic progress over the past three years.

The speech airs live on IPR News Radio stations beginning at 7:00pm.

There are not expected to be many new proposals for the Legislature to adopt this election year. The governor will almost certainly renew his call for another billion dollars a year in road funding. He will also likely roll out initiatives that deal with workforce development, immigration, teacher performance, and developing a better system to alert the state when a local government or school district is headed for a fiscal crisis.

Last year, two school districts – Buena Vista and Inkster – were shut down after they suddenly ran out of money.
