How Much School Choice?

http://ipraudio.interlochen.org/Superchoice.mp3

By Peter Payette

Super choice, a la carte and nuclear bomb are terms being used to describe a new plan for public education in Michigan. The plan requested by Governor Snyder calls for the end of district ownership. That means students become shoppers in an education marketplace able to purchase courses from any school that will provide them, online or in a building. Critics say it is the end of public education and a death sentence for local school districts.
